Program Overview
RISE participants choose from one of three Academic Streams, each of which explores in depth timeless issues and questions facing this generation of future leaders. Each stream, led by a RISE mentor-scholar, offers instruction, discussion, and interactive learning over the course of the four-week program. Complementing these streams is the Current Events Roundtable, as well as an ongoing discussion of the roots of Western ethics and citizenship via an analysis of Cicero's "De Re Publica." All RISE participants receive a “reader” containing all of the relevant material for their chosen track.
Additionally, for two hours every day, students participate in RISE-developed skills workshops which provide training in the practical aspects of leadership and academic success. Participants will learn how to write effective college essays, competently engage in public speaking and debate, apply for college in a way that forcefully communicates their strengths, and lead student groups to make a tangible difference on their college campuses and beyond.
There is also the option to study Latin, further enhancing the experience of being in “The Eternal City.”
The program includes ample opportunity to enjoy the villa’s amenities and surrounding attractions. Students can swim, read, play sports, enjoy film and game nights, and participate in excursions.
